Due to predicted high wind gusts and the potential for flash flooding and tornadoes from Hurricane Helene, WS/FCS will be closed Friday, September 27.
Our "Donut Dashin' for Dollars" event for K-2 students will be rescheduled for Monday, September 30th.

Each Tuesday PEPI (Physical Education Pupil Instructor) students visit Jefferson Elementary and spend time with our 3rd grade students teaching them a game from the lesson plans they created.

A few things to know:
*Pictures can only be ordered online this year. Please do not send cash or check with your student to order pictures.

*During both session times, Mrs. Miller, our Instructional Facilitator, will share information about AIG testing. These sessions are recommended for 2nd grade parents, but parents in any grade with AIG questions may attend.

Jefferson is thrilled to be the second school in the district to introduce composting to our cafeteria. We need volunteers to help the students learn the new process during their lunch periods. If this is your first time learning about composting, we promise this is a simple process, and our Environmental Committee co-chairs will be there to assist you!
Our fifth graders will be the first grade to begin composting starting on September 16th, and we’re seeking volunteers to support the launch. Sign up to volunteer for a shift from September 16th to 20th, between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM during the fifth graders’ lunch period.

From the 2024-2025 Jefferson School Handbook:
"Parents may have lunch with their child in the JES cafeteria beginning September 2024. This gives students time to meet new friends and learn JES cafeteria expectations. Parents must sit at a designated parent booth with their child only. Students are not permitted to have friends join them at the booth. Parents may not bring food for other students. Thank you for kindly respecting these rules for safety reasons."
Please let your child's teacher know that you will be coming to lunch. When you arrive at Jefferson, come directly to the office to sign in as a visitor. A state ID will be required to receive a visitors pass. Then you can head down to the cafeteria to wait for your child.

As announced, WS/FCS has canceled all activities for today including Open House this evening.
JES Open House will now be on Friday, August 9th from 3:30-5:30pm.
The front doors will open promptly at 3:30pm.
Open House is family style, so teachers invite you to drop in to meet them. They will have important paperwork and plenty of information for you!
Bus questions/concerns will be in the Media Center with Dr. Olsen.
Please stop by the gym; there will be*some* tables set up with JES spirit wear, PTA, Imprints, after school clubs and more!
Due to this last minute change, there may be some teachers who are unable to attend Open House. These teachers will be in contact with their families. Thank you for understanding that we are doing the best we can to support families during this time.
