Students can submit art in the form of film, music, visual arts, dance, literature, or photography for a chance to win at their school, state, and national levels. Meet us at 7:15 AM, Wednesday, October 2nd to bike or walk to school! Come early and park at the large Muddy Creek Greenway lot on the opposite side of Robinhood Road. Kick-off starts at 7:15 AM but you can walk or ride at your leisure along the 0.8 mile (mostly) paved trail that connects with Jefferson. Bikers will exit the Greenway at the small gravel lot and wait for staff to hold traffic as they bike their final stretch along Jefferson School Lane and up to the bike rack located near the track and basketball courts. Traffic will be stopped for bikers at 7:30 AM and 7:50 AM. Walkers will diverge from bikers and make their way further along the paved Greenway until they reach a dirt trail on the left which will take them up a hill through the woods to the Jefferson Bus Lot. Our first and second graders will begin composting the week of October 7th and we need volunteer support for two weeks to help them learn the process. Due to predicted high wind gusts and the potential for flash flooding and tornadoes from Hurricane Helene, WS/FCS will be closed Friday, September 27. Our "Donut Dashin' for Dollars" event for K-2 students will be rescheduled for Monday, September 30th.

We love our Reagan High School PEPI students! Each Tuesday PEPI (Physical Education Pupil Instructor) students visit Jefferson Elementary and spend time with our 3rd grade students teaching them a game from the lesson plans they created. We are grateful for the connections that are being made with our JES 3rd graders!

We are excited to have you join us for Curriculum Night this Thursday! Our teachers will share what students will learn this school year, homework expectations, and how YOU can support your child with their learning. 3RD GRADE: 5:00-6:15 PM in Media Center K, 1, 2, 4, & 5: We will offer two sessions; parents only need to attend one session with their child's teacher. Session 1: 5:30-6:15 PM Session 2: 6:15-7:00 PM *During both session times, Mrs. Miller, our Instructional Facilitator, will share information about AIG testing. These sessions are recommended for 2nd grade parents, but parents in any grade with AIG questions may attend.

Jefferson is thrilled to be the second school in the district to introduce composting to our cafeteria. We need volunteers to help the students learn the new process during their lunch periods. If this is your first time learning about composting, we promise this is a simple process, and our Environmental Committee co-chairs will be there to assist you! Our fifth graders will be the first grade to begin composting starting on September 16th, and we’re seeking volunteers to support the launch. From the 2024-2025 Jefferson School Handbook: "Parents may have lunch with their child in the JES cafeteria beginning September 2024. This gives students time to meet new friends and learn JES cafeteria expectations. Parents must sit at a designated parent booth with their child only. Students are not permitted to have friends join them at the booth. Parents may not bring food for other students. Thank you for kindly respecting these rules for safety reasons." Please let your child's teacher know that you will be coming to lunch. When you arrive at Jefferson, come directly to the office to sign in as a visitor. A state ID will be required to receive a visitors pass. Then you can head down to the cafeteria to wait for your child. We can't wait for you to visit beginning September 3rd!
