Count Down to K

Diggs-Latham Elementary Visual & Performing Arts A+ Magnet School has been named a National Merit School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools.
Principal Dr. Dobson and Magnet Coordinator Mrs. Gordon will be recognized and receive a National Merit School of Distinction Award on behalf of the school during an awards ceremony held at Magnet Schools of America’s National Conference in April 2025, in Nashville.
To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme.

We are so excited to announce that our school has been “adopted” by the authors of Max Rhymes Foundation, so we will receive all 5 Max Rhymes Books every year for every kindergartener…for free! We are so appreciative to all the donors who make this possible! Our students love the books, and teachers cannot wait to use the accompanying learning activities and lesson plans in English and Spanish. Read more about the foundation at https://maxrhymesfoundation.org/.
