Teacher of the Year: Nadra Hunte (CTE Foods)

Ms. Hunte exemplifies excellence in education, going above and beyond to inspire students, support colleagues, and contribute to our school community in profound and lasting ways. Her dedication to fostering both academic success and personal growth in her students is truly remarkable. Under her guidance, students not only excel academically but also develop a genuine love for learning that extends far beyond the kitchens.  

Students often express how they look forward to Ms. Hunte's classes, a testament to her engaging teaching style and approachable nature. Her impact extends beyond her immediate classroom, as she serves as a great role model for the entire school community.  

Ms. Hunte is always seeking ways to make Atkins better.  She gives of her time and talents to support our entire school community.  Her dedication to her students, her colleagues and her school is greatly appreciated!

Certified Staff Person of the Year: Allison Mathews (School Counselor)

Ms. Mathews is a beacon of positivity, competence, and encouragement at Atkins. Her dedication to students, staff, and families shines through in every interaction. She is not only an exceptional counselor who manages scheduling, courses, and academic planning with unmatched skill but also a compassionate listener and problem solver.

Ms. Mathews goes above and beyond to ensure students are placed in the right classes, fostering both academic success and personal growth. Teachers and staff appreciate her collaborative spirit and her commitment to incorporating classroom and teacher perspectives. Her attention to detail, swift communication, and ability to make complex processes easy to understand make her an indispensable part of the team.

Students adore her for her kindness, patience, and unwavering support. Whether helping seniors navigate college applications or guiding freshmen through the high school transition, she builds trust and provides solutions that reduce stress and inspire confidence.  We are fortunate to have Ms. Mathews lead our Student Services Department here at Atkins!  

Classified Staff Person of the Year: Rhonda Robbins (Student Services Dept.)

Mrs. Robbins exemplifies dedication, kindness, and professionalism in her role at Student Services. Her unwavering commitment to supporting students and staff makes her an important leader in the school community. Always approachable and eager to help, she fosters a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued.

Mrs. Robbins goes above and beyond, ensuring tasks are completed with efficiency and care. Whether coordinating school communications, assisting with events, or simply offering a warm smile, her impact is deeply felt and greatly appreciated. She embodies excellence, creating a positive space for all and setting a high standard for service and support.

Assistant Principal of the Year: Chris Applegate

Mr. Applegate embodies a balance of firmness and kindness, making a remarkable impact on both students and staff at Atkins. His ability to listen without judgment, provide constructive feedback, and maintain fairness sets him apart as a leader. Students admire his approachable and understanding nature, especially those with special needs, who feel supported and safe in his presence.

Mr. Applegate’s dedication is evident in his constant visibility around the school, from managing the bus lot to attending events, ensuring smooth operations, and addressing concerns. He is known for his calm demeanor, sense of humor, and ability to foster a positive environment, even in challenging situations. Both staff and students value his direct, honest communication and appreciate his efforts to balance discipline with compassion.

With a professional and supportive approach, Mr. Applegate leads by example, earning respect and trust from the entire school community. His unwavering commitment to the Atkins Way, coupled with his ability to juggle multiple responsibilities seamlessly, makes him an indispensable asset to the school.
