A dedicated group of Atkins HS students played an hour-long concert on Friday, December 20 to celebrate the holiday season with an appreciative audience at Senior Services in Winston-Salem.

"I am proud of Grace Ko; she did a great job organizing the event," said Orchestra Director Greg Murphy.

The Music Outreach Club allows students to form chamber ensembles and rehearse for performances in the community. These students meet on Friday afternoons when most of their peers are heading home. They generally play concerts for the elderly, at retirement homes and Senior Services facilities. The club was founded by Adesuwa Igbinigie, and is currently led by sophomore cellist Grace Ko. She made the connection with Senior Services that made the performance possible.
