Repeating last year's finish, Moksha Agrawal won the Atkins Poetry Out Loud school competition on Wednesday, December 11. Junior Nishka Amesar was the runner-up, and senior Maggie Guffee was chosen as the alternate.
Agrawal and Amesar will compete at the district competition to be held at Atkins on Saturday, January 11, and Guffey will perform an exhibition. Last year, Agrawal won the district contest and progressed all the way to the state competition held in Charlotte.
Poetry Out Loud is a poetry recitation contest sponsored by the arts council which begins at the classroom level, then school, then district, and then progresses all the way to the state and national levels.
Forsyth County has had three state champions in the last decade, including Atkins graduate Marrianna Flores.
