The Winston-Salem Human Relations Student Award is given to a student from every school in the district. Whitaker's representative this year was 5th grader, Jackson Wood. The award is given to a student who shows respect and compassion for others, supports others who may be different from themselves, and promotes inclusivity and service to community. Jackson's nomination described him this way: "Jackson is a student who is kind to all. He will always lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it." Jackson serves the Whitaker community as a member of the Safety Patrol and a leader of the Student Lighthouse Team. Congratulations to Jackson!
