In 1995, Ed Ganaway (pictured below) from the Class of 1968, died while piloting a commercial airliner (that was destined to crash) in such a way as to save as many passengers as possible.
His classmates decided to raise funds to create a scholarship honoring him (and other deceased classmates), and in 1999 they awarded their first Memorial Scholarship to a deserving RJR senior...that paid $500. This year, the Class of 1968's Memorial Scholarship will pay out $36,000 via 4 annual $9,000 payments.
In 2013, for their 45th reunion, a DVD was created that consists of testimonials from several classmates supporting this scholarship endowment. To view this thought-provoking video, click onto Ed Gannaway’s picture (above).
