When Dr. Leslie Alexander was first named the principal of Reynolds HIgh School, she came to speak and answer questions at a RJR Multi-Class Reunion staged by the "RJR Alumni and Friends" organization. At the end of her presentation, Alumni President Harry Corpening told those in attendance that he was immediately creating the Leslie Fund. Donations sent supporting that fund would be used by Dr. Alexander to make immediate improvements "amid the pines" for RJR's students and/or staff.

When Calvin Freeman (pictured below) succeeded her, the name of that fund changed to the Calvin Fund.
