RJR Alumni president Harry Corpening recently talked with Clare Jordan. She started the Demon Pantry 14 years ago (which offers free food immediately to any student who comes to school hungry). He learned that Reynolds High School today has 34 homeless students, and that there is a social worker hired by the School System that helps these students. That social worker is Lenatte Taylor. On December 17th, Harry staged a recorded Zoom conversation with Lenatte. During that conversation they discussed (among many other things) how these students are identified, and what help they are entitled to receive.

It MUST be pointed out that even though Lanette can offer some things to the homeless students, that leaves a LOT of needs these teenagers have unmet. Financial donations can help meet those needs. If you would like to write a check for such a donation: make it out to "RJR Alumni" and mail it to: RJR Alumni * PO Box 26172 * Winston-Salem, NC 27114. On the memo-line write in "social worker initiative."

If you have an IRA and are at least 70 1/2 years old, you can use your IRA to make a donation. To learn how, click onto the following image.
