Our 8th-grade Business Ed students turned an ordinary school day into an extraordinary adventure by hosting an RV show for all Mineral Springs Middle School students. The event aimed to introduce our students to exciting recreational alternatives beyond sitting at home and playing computer games.
The 8th-grade Business Ed Students took on the role of tour guides, leading small groups through a variety of campers and RVs. Each tour was an educational journey, highlighting the many fun activities and adventures one can have in the great outdoors.
The RV show was a unique experience, featuring several types of campers, each offering a distinct glimpse into life on the road. From compact pop-up campers to luxurious motorhomes, there was something to pique everyone's interest. The 8th-grade guides explained the features of each RV, showing off kitchens, sleeping areas, and even entertainment systems that make traveling comfortable and enjoyable. The RV owners shared stories about camping adventures, teaching the students how RVs can be a gateway to outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and stargazing.
This event was more than just a tour; it was an inspiring lesson about the joys of active recreation. "We wanted to show everyone that there's a whole world outside of video games and screens," said one of the 8th-grade guides, Harold McLean. "Camping and RVing can be so much fun, and it's a great way to spend time with family and friends."
This is the second year Mr. Hill's Business Ed Class hosts the show, but for many students, this was their first close-up look at RVs and the camping lifestyle. "We wanted to show our students many different kinds of campers that can fit different budgets," said Mr. Hill, Business Ed Teacher at Mineral Springs Middle. "The idea behind this event is to inspire our students to try alternative recreation besides sitting at home and playing computer games. We want our students to say at the end of the day - Now I really want to go on a camping trip with my family!"
The RV show was a huge success, leaving students with a newfound appreciation for outdoor adventures and various ways to have fun away from their screens. Thanks to our innovative and enthusiastic 8th graders and their teacher, many students are eager to explore the world beyond their living rooms.
Here's to more outdoor fun and less screen time!
