We are once again combining art and literacy to host the 4th Annual Pumpkin Book Character Project! Parents and guardians are encouraged to help their child design a pumpkin book character, but the child may do the activity on their own. Completed projects will be on display in the media center.
This project will reflect your child’s understanding of the term “book character”. Some examples include: Clifford, Fly Guy, Pete the Cat, The Rainbow Fish, Pigeon, etc. A book character does not come from a movie or TV show. Use a character that comes from a book.
Directions and other important information are below. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Evans with any questions! We hope the students enjoy creating their book character pumpkins and we can’t wait to see them!
Directions for Pumpkin Book Characters:
Select a pumpkin or gourd.
Use acrylic paint and permanent markers to design your pumpkin.
Use hot glue to add any additional props such as yarn, cloth, etc.
DO NOT CARVE your pumpkin.
Provide a plate of some sort to place under your pumpkin.
Complete an index card with the book character name, names of the people who helped with the pumpkin and the classroom teacher.
IF you have a copy of the book to share, that would be great. We will place it next to the pumpkin. If you need to checkout a book from the media center, then you can! Just let Mrs. Evans know which book character you want to choose.
Please feel free to be as creative as you like!
THIS IS NOT A CONTEST! JUST BE CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN!
Drop off your pumpkins in the Media Center between October 24th and October 28th.
We can't wait to see what everyone creates this year!
