Jefferson Elementary School came together to celebrate an inspiring group of students. As the exceptional children (EC) students prepared to embark on their journey to participate in the WS/FCS Special Olympics, students lined the halls of Jefferson Elementary and cheered them on as they headed out.
Cheers, claps, and handmade signs of encouragement filled the air, where everyone united to celebrate the achievements and perseverance of Mrs. Hicks' and Ms. Burns' incredible students.
Fifth graders at JES can apply to be an EC Buddy. These students help our EC students at school by helping them to class in the morning, supporting them when they see them throughout the day and becoming true friends. The EC Buddies attended the Special Olympics to show their support and help them during their events.
Many of our students and staff were highlighted in an article written by the Winston-Salem Journal.
We couldn’t be prouder of these students and their participation in the Special Olympics.
