JES multicultural festival

On Friday, November 22nd, Jefferson Elementary hosted it's annual Multicultural Festival. Jefferson students and their families donned traditional clothing from their culture while enjoying the festivities. After a welcome from Principal Katie McGregor, the 4th and 5th grade chorus, led by music teacher Brooke Martin performed "Everyone Belongs."

The International Flag team presented the 62 country flags that are represented at Jefferson. These student leaders carried the flag that represents their family's heritage.

Families were invited to walk throughout the school to visit countries displayed at each classroom. Each homeroom, learned about a country and created a display to share for the evening. Students had their "passport" stamped after they visited a country.

The JES Bus lot was filled with eight different food trucks with a variety of choices including African and Columbian cuisine.

A VERY special thanks to our Jefferson PTA volunteers, Multicultural Festival chairs, Jacquelyn Rose and Xylina Tomlinson and PTA President Amy Sullivan, for their time and talents they shared with us as they prepared for this event. We are grateful for their hard work and dedication to Jefferson Elementary!
