4th Annual Jefferson Storybook Pumpkin Painting Contest!
What is it and how do I participate?
1. Choose a book character.
2. Buy a pumpkin.
3. Paint your pumpkin to look like the book character.
4. Bring into the school for outside display and judging!
5. We’ll have 2 categories: Grades K-2 and Grades 3-5 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each category.
Guidelines:
1. Students may use any size pumpkin they would like – but remember, your child will be carrying this pumpkin. This year we are allowing carving if you want since the pumpkins will be outside - keep in mind - carved pumpkins rot much quicker!
2. The pumpkin must be painted, colored, etc to look like a character from a book.
3. It is suggested that 2 coats of a base coat works the best and you could use a glaze over it in case it rains.
4. Students may attach/glue on items such as ears, beak, hair, etc.
5. Use a sharpie to write your child’s full name and grade on the BOTTOM of the pumpkin. Each pumpkin will be a number so that judges will not know which student painted which pumpkin.
6. As parents we want to help our child - please don’t help too much. Let your child do most of the work. They are always so proud when they feel like it’s really theirs!
7. All Character Pumpkins are due on Monday, October 28, 2024 - please bring them to the front of the school sidewalk that morning!!
**Judges will start judging Monday afternoon since there is a possibility of rain. **Winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. **Pumpkins will be going home at the end of that week on Thursday, October 31, 2024. If you do not pick up your pumpkin by that afternoon, they will be disposed of.
Please note: Pumpkins will be placed on the sidewalk going up to the front doors of the school. There is a possibility that it could rain on your pumpkin or something else could happy since it will be outside. Keep that in mind when you are putting decorations on the pumpkins.
