Atkins Inducts Inaugural Class into Tri-M Musical Honor Society

For its first time, Atkins HS held an induction ceremony for exceptional students to become a member of and represent the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Students admitted have met the necessary Tri-M criteria and were chosen on the basis of scholarship, character, leadership, and service.

"This is a great opportunity for these students. I'm really proud of them," said Atkins Band Director Justin Sumners.

This honor society was originally named Modern Music Masters, which is how the name Tri-M came to be. Each inducted student received a membership card and a pin emblem, symbolizing the function and purpose of the Tri-M honor society.

Members of the honor society are encouraged to demonstrate the value of music in the school and community, as well as pass on the “torch of their musical knowledge” to their peers.
