Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is a primarily American elementary, middle school, or high school team competition that requires knowledge of various science topics and engineering ability. Over 14,000 teams from 48 U.S. states, Mexico, and Canada compete each year. The Science Olympiad team works to prepare for events by studying general material, taking practice tests, and building various contraptions for the events at the tournament. The tournaments take place at the regional, state and national level.
Atkins has had several Regional championships, and regularly finishes among the top schools in NC at the state level, including crowning several individual/small group state champions.
Meetings are held on Thursdays. While these are team meetings, it is expected that each member will prepare for their specific events and work with teammates and coaches on their own time.
