Physical Education 2 / Weight Training

Students should realize before leaving high school that healthy behaviors are essential to their quality of life, fitness is a part of everyday life, behavior is accountable, and proper nutrition is essential. Students should realize and value healthy behaviors through an understanding that living a healthy lifestyle can increase their job productivity and help to reduce health care costs in today's economy. In Physical Education 2 / Weight Training, 10th graders will use the knowledge learned in Physical Education 1 to apply the skills and use strategies to develop strength and conditioning for various sports and fitness related activities. Free weights, exercise machines and conditioning activities will be incorporated to promote improvement in strength, endurance, balance, agility, and speed. Students will learn proper technique, safety precautions and proper application of the Principles of Training.
