HP71 PLTW Human Body Systems HN: In this course students examine the interactions of human body systems as they explore identity, power, movement, protection, and homeostasis in the body. Exploring science in action, students build organs and tissues on a skeletal manikin and use data acquisition software to monitor body functions. Prerequisite: Principles of Biomedical Science
HU40 Health Science I HN: Focus on human anatomy, physiology and human body diseases and disorders, and biomedical therapies. Explore health care careers within the context of human body systems. Projects, teamwork, and demonstrations serve as instructional strategies that reinforce the curriculum content. English language arts and science are reinforced.
HB11 Biomedical Technology HN: This course is designed to assist potential health care workers in their role and function as health team members. Topics include medical terminology, the history of health care, healthcare agencies, ethics, legal responsibilities, health careers, holistic health, health care trends, cultural awareness, communication, medical math, leadership, and career decision making. Prerequisite: HP71 PLTW Human Body Systems OR HU40 Health Science I

Occupations: Biological Technician |
HP70 PLTW Principles of Biomedical Sciences: Students explore concepts of biology and medicine to determine factors that led to the death of a fictional person. While investigating the case, students examine autopsy reports, medical history, and medical treatments that might have prolonged the person’s life. The activities and projects introduce students to human physiology, basic biology, medicine, and research processes while allowing them to design their own experiments to solve problems. This course is eligible for honors weight.
Prerequisite: HP70 PLTW Principles of Biomedical Science
HP72 PLTW Medical Interventions HN: Students follow the life of a fictitious family as they investigate how to prevent, diagnose, and treat disease. Students explore how to detect and fight infection; screen and evaluate the code in human DNA; evaluate cancer treatment options; and prevail when the organs of the body begin to fail. Prerequisite: HP71 PLTW Human Body Systems HN
