Econ Challenge

NC EconChallenge at Atkins

The NC EconChallenge, coached by Atkins Instructional Facilitator Montá Ervin, is one of the NCASA Partner competitions for which Atkins gets points toward the Scholastic Cup. Only students who are enrolled in or have taken Civics and Economics in the current school year are eligible to compete. Atkins is at somewhat of a disadvantage with a block schedule, since Spring semester students do not usually study Economics until the end of the course.

The team has done well in the past, finishing as high as third, and having several of the eight state finalist teams qualify for the state round, which is held in the Federal Reserve bank building in Charlotte each year in the spring.

To compete, see your Civics teacher, or Ms. Ervin. Multiple teams can compete in the online regional qualification round at each school, and Atkins usually forms multiple teams in an attempt to get as many teams to the state round as possible.
