Atkins now has two A Cappella groups, a "Golden Girls" female group and a "Maroon 13" male group. In Choral Director Valerie Davidson's first year at Atkins, her group won the state championship at the annual NCASA A Cappella competition. The next year brought other awards, such as Best Male Soloist and Best Vocal Percussion, and the group finished as state champion runner-up. 

In 2023-2024, the Atkins A Cappella group again finished as state champion runner-up, and Valerie Mayhew was awarded the NCASA Coach of the Year Award.

A Cappella is now a class at Atkins.
