The Board of Education recognized five student athletes who won state championships in individual winter sports this season during their most recent meeting. The honorees included Bence Burton from Reagan High School in 100 m breaststroke, Noelle Childs from West Forsyth High School in pole vault, Maddison Davis from Atkins High School in shotput, Oge Ezeigbo from Atkins High School in 55 m hurdles, and Micha Walker from Parkland High School in 300 m hurdles. The Forsyth Assistant Principal's Association is hosting its Second Annual FAPA Golf Tournament. The organization raised over $18,000 last year between its bowling tournament and its inaugural golf tournament, and this year, they hope to raise $25,000 to provide a senior at each WS/FCS high school with a scholarship.

The Board of Education recognized 34 new and 20 renewed National Board Certified teachers during their last meeting. National Board Certified teachers demonstrate excellence in content knowledge, differentiation in instruction, teaching practices, cultivating a classroom environment, and effective and reflective practice to earn their certifications. WS/FCS supports teachers pursuing this distinction in many ways, including with monthly support sessions, small-group cohorts, and unique opportunities for teachers in their third year. In their latest meeting, the Board of Education recognized Kelly Carr, a student at Reagan High School, for earning the Teaching Fellows Scholarship, a competitive loan providing tuition assistance up to $10,000 a year for qualified students committed to teaching in North Carolina public schools.
