Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools is encouraging families to sort out their bus stops for next school year early to make sure everything is in order before the May 30 deadline.

FlyerFor students who do not need to change any information regarding their bus stops, families don’t need to do anything right now. However, if a family moves, changes childcare, or has any change in address for AM or PM bus stops, they must contact the home school with updated information. The home school for rising sixth or ninth graders will be their current elementary or middle school if they complete the form prior to May 30.

Anyone who doesn’t sign up for a bus stop ahead of the deadline will not have a bus until after September 2, and from there, they will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis, so families are strongly advised to act quickly.

No changes will be made to Magnet Stop locations.

Senior Executive Director of Transportation Tisha Davidson says that hundreds of families each year fill out bus stop forms late, which introduces extra uncertainty into the district’s transportation plans. While some struggles with busing are unavoidable, especially in the first few weeks of the year, families can make a major difference in efficiency by taking care of their bus stop information as soon as possible.

“Start planning now,” Davidson said. “Anything we can do right now to get ahead is going to help us out a lot next school year.”
