WS/FCS and The Winston-Salem Foundation surprised 2 WS/FCS art teachers with scholarships on Wednesday. The Penland School Of Craft in Bakersville, NC funds the Tony Swider Art Education Award through the Penland Endowment for Art Education at The Winston-Salem Foundation.
The scholarship honors the memory of Antony “Tony” Swider, who served as both an art teacher and an arts administrator during his 40-year career, including 28 years with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.
The scholarship will allow Amanda Holcomb at North Hills Elementary and BreeAnna Saladino at Hanes Magnet Middle to attend a summer art class at Penland for free. WS/FCS Cable 2 was there as these amazing WS/FCS art teachers got the good news.
