Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools is asking staff and students to stay home for one more day following continued reports of winter weather conditions on Tuesday, January 7.

While district leaders considered a delayed start to the school day on Tuesday, it was determined that a two-hour delay would not provide enough time for road conditions to improve, particularly in the northeast region of the county.

Just like on Monday, this is a general closure, and employees can find more information about their schedules here. 205-day employees will not work on Tuesday because of the scheduled make-up day in April. Please reach out to your direct supervisor with any questions and, most importantly, make the safest decisions for yourself and your family.

Please make note of the following dates:

  • The two inclement weather days this week will be made up on Friday, March 7 and Monday, April 21. March 7 was originally part of Spring Break students, while April 21 is Easter Monday. Both days were previously scheduled as RT days for staff.

  • Report cards will now be delivered on Monday, January 13 to account for processing time lost to inclement weather

  • The district hopes to reopen schools on Wednesday, January 8 as weather conditions improve. If that happens, Wednesday will be an A Day for high school students.

Thank you for your patience, and please stay safe!
