Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools’ Dr. Mark Maxwell and Dr. Raketa Ouedraogo-Thomas will be presenting at the 2024 Color of Education Conference at NC State Saturday, September 28.
They will lead a session titled “Building Bridges for Equity: Empowering Collective Capacity for System Change.” The session will delve into the district’s Equity Ambassadors initiative and highlight how this powerful strategy encourages educators to activate individual and collective responsibility to foster transformative change in schools. Maxwell and Ouedraogo-Thomas serve as WS/FCS lead equity coaches.
The Color of Education is a partnership between the Dudley Flood Center for Educational Equity and Opportunity, the Public School Forum of North Carolina, and Duke University’s Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity.
This collaboration seeks to dismantle systemic racism in education by bridging the fields of research, policy, and practice. Through this initiative, diverse voices from across the state come together to create solutions that influence policies and build a more equitable future.
