Immunizations

SHASHAThe deadline for state-required immunizations and health assessments for students is coming up fast, and for families still looking to finish their wellness checklists, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools has resources available to help.

Tuesday, September 10 is the deadline for state-mandated immunizations and health assessments, meaning that any students who do not have these completed will not be able to attend school beginning on Wednesday, September 11. However, there are still ample opportunities to meet these requirements over the next week and a half. Families can schedule appointments with their primary care providers, their local department of public health, or with the School Health Alliance of Forsyth County, which operates both permanent and mobile clinics at 12 different campuses throughout the district. In addition to immunizations and health assessments, the SHA can also assist families with sports physicals, mental health screenings, nutrition services, and more, and all services are provided regardless of ability to pay. Additional information is available online at www.shaforsyth.com or over the phone at (336) 703-4273.

OZEOZEWS/FCS is also cooperating with the Forsyth County Department of Public Health on an initiative called Operation Zero Exclusion, which specifically seeks to aid families trying to secure immunizations and health assessments. Families with children aged 4-18 will be able to visit the DOH building at 799 Highland Avenue for immunizations and health assessments. The clinics will be held on:

Tuesday, September 10 from 8 am to 11 am and from 1 pm to 4 pm

Thursday, September 5 and 12 from 4:30 pm to 7:15 pm

Saturday, September 7 and 14 from 9 am to 1 pm

These services require appointments, and patients with private insurance will be expected to pay at the time of service. Appointments can be made by calling (336) 703-4273.

Thank you for playing your part to keep our schools safe and healthy!
