High School Physical Education
Students should learn healthy behaviors are essential to their quality of life, fitness is a part of everyday life, behavior is accountable, and proper nutrition is essential. Students should know and value healthy behaviors by understanding that living a healthy lifestyle can increase their job productivity and help reduce health care costs in today's economy. Students in our WS/FCS high schools are exposed to a wide variety of sports experiences, both during classes and through after-school activities. Students dress out to participate. In addition to traditional sports activities, some schools offer team building activities, kickball tournaments, beach ball volleyball games, Omnikin ball games, Frisbee golf, and weight conditioning classes.

Creating a Positive Environment for Physical Activity.

Opportunities for physical activity (e.g. recess, physical education) will not be withheld as a form of discipline, except in the case of a brief timeout for misbehavior occurring during the physical activity.
The above two guidelines do not apply to extracurricular sports teams.
Recess/physical activity time will not be cancelled for instructional make-up time.
All schools in the district will provide a physical and social environment that encourages safe and enjoyable activity for all students, including those who are not athletically inclined.
Information will be provided to families to help them incorporate physical activity into their children’s lives.
