The Planning & Construction department oversees the district's school construction and renovations. We work from building concept to completion, furniture up-fit and move in providing a total working school. We work closely with engineers, architects, suppliers, principals, district departments, and other staff members in bringing projects to completion. Other duties include working with staff and city, county, state, and national agencies to coordinate work efforts, secure funding for new construction and other school projects.
The department has the responsibility to recommend and select land, architects, consultants, and contractors, and to establish with our Board of Education district programs and standards of products and programs. Representatives of our department meet with the Board of Education and the public to determine district needs and identify funding sources as well as prepare bond packages for authorization by our local County Commissioners.
