Know The Warning Signs

Common signs of a victim:

  • Unexplained injuries

  • Lost or destroyed belongings (clothing, jewelry, books, electronics)

  • Frequent headaches or stomach aches, feeling sick or faking illness

  • Changes in eating habits, skipping meals or binging (due to missed meals)

  • Difficulty sleeping or frequent nightmares

  • Declining grades, loss of interest in schoolwork, not wanting to go to school

  • Sudden loss of friends or avoidance of social situations

  • Feelings of helplessness or decreased self-esteem

  • Self-destructive behaviors (running away, harming oneself, suicidal thoughts)

Common signs of an offender:

  • Getting into physical or verbal fights

  • Has friends who bully others

  • Are increasingly aggressive

  • Frequently sent to principal's office

  • Have unexplained extra money or new belongings

  • Don't accept responsibility for their actions

  • Are competitive and worry about their popularity or reputation
