Judy Montjoy Volunteer of the Year Bios

Sabrina Coone-Godfrey

Sabrina Coone-Godfrey worked for 15 years in sales and marketing before choosing to dedicate herself to volunteering with the schools and staying home with her children. She started the “Book Fairy” program at Rural Hall Elementary and has been a major organizer for fundraisers and hospitality events. She’s appreciated both for the work she gets done and for being a joy to collaborate with.

“She works hard to ensure that students, staff, and families are loved and shown appreciation,” said Assistant Principal Jonae’ Hanna. “She strolls through the halls, smiling and encouraging everyone to continue working hard during this difficult time in education.”

Stephanie Fisher Kennedy

Stephanie Fisher Kennedy prides herself as an experienced event coordinator with an extensive skill set in planning and organization. She prioritizes strong communication and showing a passion for her community in everything she does. Her commitment to building up the schools she serves with has made a big impact at both Hanes Magnet School and Reynolds High.

“Throughout her time as a volunteer with the school system, Stephanie has excelled as a volunteer,” said former Assistant Principal of Instruction Karen Morris. “In the past three years at RJR, she has held various offices in our PTSA, written grants to integrate experiential learning with classroom standards, worked to increase equity and access, and been a steadfast advocate for public education.”

Angel Howard

With a background ranging from running a small business to substituting for Pre-K classes, Angel Howard is used to shouldering a lot of responsibility. As a volunteer, she works hard to communicate between parents and staff, promote a safe learning environment, assist educators with their lessons and keep students engaged in their own education. Her coworkers don’t know how they’d get along without her.  She has been volunteering in the schools for 6 years at both elementary and middle schools levels. She is currently the PTSA president at East.

“That title [of Volunteer of the Year] does not do justice to what all she does and means to EFMS,” said Media Coordinator Brandon Buchanan. “I believe that our school, in these trying times, could not and would not be able to function without her.”

Sharon Montecalvo

Since becoming a member of the Raider community, Sharon Montecalvo has immersed herself within multiple facets of the campus including PTSA, Booster Club and Reagan National Certification Committee. She’s developed a reputation for positively impacting everyone at the school and all members of the community who visit the campus. Throughout the last three years, she’s been good at adapting to meet the new demands of volunteering and her community feels fortunate to have her support.

“Her presence and encouragement make each individual feel like they are the highest accomplished scholar, stellar athlete, or most dedicated educator in the building,” said Science Teacher Shannon Pylant.

Christy Robinson

Christy Robinson has served WS/FCS for 13 years, not only as a volunteer but as a kindergarten teacher, a childcare assistant, a reading tutor and more. Her volunteerism has extended outside of the schools to venues like the Girl Scouts, Women of Action and the Forsyth County Department of Public Health. Her colleagues believe she serves as a beacon for the best of what WS/FCS has to offer.

“Mrs. Robinson is a true gift to Jefferson Elementary School,” said Principal Debbie McIntyre. “All WS/FCS core values are exemplified through her daily actions. She is an irreplaceable volunteer who generates a positive ray of energy in our school.”
