Student Services Mentor Program

Mission

The Winston -Salem Forsyth County School’s Student Mentoring Program mission is to transform the lives of our scholars through the development of a relationship with a trusted adult. This adult will assist and guide the scholars through educational and behavioral excellence, by supporting students during critical decision-making, problem-solving and sharing experiences of successful adults that will help them navigate through life’s challenges.

Vision

The Winston-Salem Forsyth County School’s Student Mentoring Program’s vision is to assist all students with accessing the educational opportunities in the district and assist them with becoming responsible, productive, global citizens through vital connections, support, and goal setting.

Goal

Our goal is for students to have a relationship with one trusted adult in the school setting. The relationship will support students to reach their full potential and build skills to assist them in graduating from high school. This mentoring program focuses on students’ relationships and individual skill building.

About the Mentors:

We have an amazing staff consisting of 14 Student Mentors serving scholars in 6 schools. Each student mentor has a caseload of no less than 12 scholars, and up to 20 scholars. Our student mentors interacted with scholars that needed redirection when referred by the administration at the school. The student mentors are an integral part of the school staff and are asked to attend sporting events, parent meetings, chaperone for field trips as well as proctor for exams.
