Effective SEL instruction includes four elements represented by the acronym SAFE:

  • Sequenced - connected and coordinated activities to foster skill development.

  • Active - active forms of learning to help students master skills

  • Focused - containing activities that clearly emphasis developing personal and social skills.

  • Explicit - targeting specific social and emotional skills.

As part of our commitment to providing Social-Emotional Learning in the district, we have adopted two SEL curriculums for use throughout the district.  The two programs we adopted are Second Step and Project Wayfinder.
