Welcome to the WS/FCS System. WS/FCS is one of the largest systems in North Carolina and the 83rd largest in the nation. We are proud of our 81 schools and the opportunities they offer. We recognize that substitute teachers are critical members of our educational team. The Substitute department currently supports 42 elementary schools, 15 middle schools, and 16 high schools, and eight specialty schools. We serve approximately 53,000 students and 6200 teachers with approximately 1000 substitute teachers in the 81 schools. The goal of the substitute teacher program is to strive toward excellence in providing quality instruction and oversight for students while the regular assigned teacher is away.
