WS/FCS celebrates the many connections that move us forward and make a difference for our scholars and their families.

Bookmark's unwavering support of the district’s literacy goals comes in amazing ways as they spark a love for reading! Bookmarks donates thousands of books into WS/FCS media centers through Book Builds, hosts field trips for classes, and brings dozens of authors to schools year round. Guest authors in 2022-2023 have included Tiffany Jackson (“Grown”) and local author Stacy McAnulty (“The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl”). They support local Little Free Libraries, hold story times at their store, and are the host of the Festival of Books and Authors, the largest annual book festival in the Carolinas. In August 2022, PepsiCo's Adelante Employee Resource Group joined WS/FCS and other partners for a No Cost Pop-Up School Supply Shop at Latino Community Services and provided backpacks, supplies, and treat bags for over 100 pre-K to high school students. Adelante continues to explore ways to get involved by providing interpretation services and supporting multilingual learns in the classroom. Thank you, members of Adelante, for shining your light!
