A guidance clerk since 2006, Laura Piner’s job relies on keen precision. She works with student records in positions that require high levels of customer interaction and does her best to support others in their leadership roles and responsibilities. Her strong communication skills and attention to detail make her indispensable to the team at the Career Center.

“Whether it’s a student, parent, staff member or community member, every individual finds themselves closer to an answer, resolution or personal stability after an interaction with Laura,” said Director Stefanie R. Jones.

Catherine Booth has served as lead day porter for Bolton Elementary since 1996. She is responsible for cleanliness, appearance and the safety of the facilities for staff, children, families, visitors and the community. Her willingness to take on whatever tasks the school needs makes it difficult for her coworkers to imagine Bolton without her.

“When she is not present at school, the faculty and students have a challenging time filling the void,” said Teacher Nicole Bowman. “I am truly amazed at Ms. Booth’s selfless attitude because she is always placing her colleagues and students first.”

“As a liaison between school and home, she is very conscientious in relaying correct information so that our parents and staff can relate to each other and truly work as partners in ensuring that students receive the best services applicable for them,” said Lead Finance Secretary Dana G. Routh.

Craig Stanley Williams

After joining WS/FCS in 2004, Craig Stanley Williams worked his way up through the ranks to become a lead custodian. He was on the first custodian crew to ever receive a 100% Inspection Rate Award in the history of the district. He takes pride and satisfaction in a job well done – any recognition he gets for it is just a bonus.

“Stanley makes a difference in so many lives on a typical day,” said CTE Instructor Frank Ancona. “Most of the time, he flies under the radar, getting things done without notice. But I notice… and students notice as well.”

Ashley Wright

Ashley Wright has worked for WS/FCS as a teacher assistant and a testing coordinator. She has trained staff on the North Carolina testing code of ethics and all testing guidelines, organized and managed testing for students with accommodations and implemented proper test administrations for the North Carolina Testing Program. She gets a lot of work done, and she also makes plenty of time to build strong relationships.

“Ms. Wright has a wonderful rapport with people of all ages, especially children,” said Math Teacher Tiffany Walker. “Her ability to connect with her students and her talent at teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior.”
