AP Literature
AP Literature and Composition
Students in AP English Literature and Composition will engage in critical reading and analysis of literature. Through close reading, they will learn to analyze how writers use language to create meaning. The readings of this course expose students to the typical texts one will read in an introductory literature course. This course includes an extensive student study of works from various genres, periods, and cultures. Writing assignments will focus on critical analysis and will include expository, analytical and argumentative essays.
AP English Literature and Composition is offered to seniors in high school. Although there are no prerequisites for this course, students will need a strong background in both critical reading and writing. Students enrolled in this course will take the AP exam in May for the opportunity to earn college credit.
