For students who are not successful in traditional schools, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools provide alternatives. Presently, there are three (3) Alternative Schools and thirty (30) Alternative Programs.

Alternative Learning Programs and Schools (ALPS) are designed to meet student needs through the utilization of non-traditional Best Practices in Education.

Alternative Educational settings assist students with academic, behavior, and/or mental health issues that impede their success in traditional schools.
