Hidden in Plain Sight: Bedroom Project
This hands-on awareness and safety session sponsored by Insight Human Services is an opportunity for participants to learn more about substance use - and how easy it can be to conceal substances. This event is not intended for students or children!

Winston-Salem Police Department Community Day
The Winston-Salem Police Department invites the community to its upcoming community day and recruitment event on Saturday, April 12th from 10am to 2pm at the Beaty Training Center (1200 N. Patterson Avenue).
This interactive and information event will provide an opportunity to explore exciting careers in law enforcement like sworn officer positions and professional staff roles. Attendees will learn about the recruitment process, the career paths within the department, and what's it's like to serve the Winston-Salem Community.

2025 Congressional Art Competition
Congressman Pat Harrigan's office will be accepting submissions until Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025. All high school students in North Carolina's 10th District are eligible to submit an original piece of two-dimensional visual art. Artwork may be a painting, drawing, collage, print, mixed-media, or photograph. The winner will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., and will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

Masters League Foundation for Boys
The Masters League Foundation for Boys is an elite leadership and development program designed to equip and develop young men with STEM education, career exposure, life skills training, and community service.
The Masters League Foundation for Boys is open for high achieving male students, grades 10-12, who are from minority backgrounds. Students must demonstrate a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be prepared to participate in monthly meetings and enrichment events.
Interested students should attend the spring open house, which is scheduled for April 27th from 2:00PM to 4:00 PM. See the attached flyer for additional information.

Forsyth Adolescent Health Coalition Career Development Workshop
High school students in Forsyth County are invited to join this career development workshop! A guest speaker will present, and other resources and services will be available. Register using the link/QR code below.

K-12 Winston-Salem Summer Quantum Scince Bootcamp (WS-SQSB)
The WS-SQSB is an immersive summer training program designed for students K-12 with an interest in science and engineering. The program will cover topics like computer programming, electronics, and various physics ideas. Participants will receive a stipend! Applications must be submitted by May 15th! Free Enterprise Leadership Challenge (FELC)
The Free Enterprise Leadership Challenge is a nationally established residential program for high school students, where students spend five days immersed in their own business using real money. This is not a lecture-based program; students make decisions that determine if their business succeeds or fails. They practice communication skills, leadership skills, and how real business works.

HOBY State Leadership Seminar
HOBY is a youth leadership organization for current sophomore students (rising juniors). HOBY holds a 3-day weekend seminar, this year from June 14th to the 15th, at UNC-Asheville. Participants learn about the phases and types of leadership while connecting with nearly 100 other sophomore participants from across western North Carolina. Wake Forest College LAUNCH
Wake Forest College LAUNCH is a free nine-month college prep, social justice, and leadership development program for rising high school juniors in Winston-Salem, Charlotte, and surrounding communities. Participants attend monthly in-person events aimed at expanding their knowledge, skills, and network.
Current sophomores (who will be juniors during the 2025-2026 academic year) are eligible to apply beginning January 7th! For more information visit the website below, and reference the flyer.

The Shelton Challenge
The Shelton Challenge is a six-day (July 6-11, 2025) residential experience to help students expand their knowledge and skills of what it takes to be an effective leader. Offered to rising 9th-grade through graduated seniors (those heading into freshman year of college) with a 3.0+ unweighted GPA, students will experience hands-on activities, high-ropes courses, rock climbing, service projects, and social events.
The cost to attend the Shelton Challenge is $500, which includes all curriculum materials, lodging and food, low and high ropes training, transportation during the week, and night activities. When submitting the application, a $100 deposit will be required to hold space in the program. Financial aid is available!
NC Wesleyan University will offer a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to students who complete the Shelton Challenge and enroll as a full-time undergraduate student at North Carolina Wesleyan University. The scholarship is renewable for each academic year (fall/spring) if the student maintains an overall GPA of at least a 2.70 (and is enrolled as a full-time student) for a maximum of four academic years. North Carolina General Assembly House Page Program
Attention students interested in learning more about the legislative process! The North Carolina General Assembly will be accepting applications for their Page program beginning January 6th. Page appointments are given to current sophomore, junior, and senior students in good academic standing with their school. They must also be sponsored by a member of the NC House of Representatives. The selection process is competitive, and appointments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Wake Forest University Summer Immersion Program
Held on campus at Wake Forest University, students can attend week-long sessions in June and July, offering a chance to explore a broad range of subjects - from STEM to creative arts!

Georgetown University Pre-College Online Program
Georgetown University offers a selection of pre-college programs year-round to allow students a chance to develop their talents and explore future areas of interest. Youth Legislative Assembly
Leaders of the North Carolina General Assembly invite North Carolina high school students to apply for the annual Youth Legislative Assembly (YLA) slated for March 7-9, 2025, in Raleigh.
“North Carolina’s Youth Legislative Assembly offers students a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about the legislative process and to develop leadership skills that will help them succeed in life,” said Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger and House Speaker Tim Moore. “We are proud to continue this long tradition of helping prepare our state’s future leaders.”

WS/FCS Financial Wellness Classes
WS/FCS Family Engagement, in partnership with Piedmont Federal Bank, will be offering monthly seminars on various financial wellness topics. Seminars are monthly on the 2nd Tuesday, at 6:00 pm at the William Roscoe Anderson Recreation Center. These events are open to parents, guardians, and families, as well as WS/FCS staff.


Forsyth County Public Library Teen Advisory Board
The Teen Advisory Board meets virtually during the school year to discuss ways to improve the library's service to teens. The board is made up of teen volunteers, and participating on the board counts towards volunteer hours.

Oxbridge Academic Programs
Oxbridge Academic programs hosts 8th through 12th grade students in one to four week travel programs where students can learn about unique academic disciplines or have immersive language experiences. While students take the rigorous summer courses, they will also explore the cities in which their programs take place, and will be able to engage with local culture and venues. ASSE International Exchange Programs
ASSE offers a variety of study abroad options for high school students, including summer immersion and language camps. Students are able to experience and participate in the local culture of their chosen location abroad, and for many programs will work with a host family who lives in the area.
