Welcome to Career Development Services

CDCs coordinate career development services for students participating in school-based Career and Technical Education courses. These include but are not limited to Career Fairs, Internships, Pre-Apprenticeships, Job Shadowing, Guest Speakers, and Field Trips related to CTE pathways.  CDCs facilitate partnerships with parents, business/industry professionals, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to support students' transition to postsecondary education and/or employment.

Kim Hayes

Career Development Coordinator (CDC)

HELLO! My name is Kim Hayes and I serve as the Career Development Coordinator (CDC) at West Forsyth.  I am happy to help you determine and attain your career goals, whether they are as immediate as finding a job shadowing opportunity or as far reaching as helping you determine what you would like to do after high school or even after college.  I am here to help.

This is my 24th year in public education working for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department and my 7th year at West Forsyth, my alma mater (1990 graduate).  I'm a 1994 graduate of Appalachian State University and a mother to three wonderful boys. My husband is retired after working 30 years in public education where he served as an Administrator for the Davidson County School System. He now enjoys a more relaxed day shuttling students from Wake Forest University's main campus to Wake Downtown. My oldest son is in his 3rd year of teaching at Parkland High School and my twin boys are starting their senior year at UNC-Charlotte.

For several years, I worked in the business sector in insurance and sales prior to transitioning into Business and Marketing Education as a CTE classroom teacher, then a CTE Program Specialist and now a Career Development Coordinator (CDC). My experience in both the business sector and public education allow me to provide valuable career insight to the students of West Forsyth.  I look forward to serving you this year.
