Dear Whitaker Families,
I am excited to begin my second year at Whitaker Elementary School. Before coming to Whitaker last year, I served as the principal at Old Richmond Elementary School for 13 years. Before this, I served as the assistant principal at Jefferson Elementary School. I also worked at Walkertown ES, Atkins MS, and Mineral Springs MS. During this time period, I served as a principal, assistant principal, school counselor, teacher, athletic director, and basketball coach.
I received my undergraduate degree from Appalachian State (Social Science Education). I hold two master’s degrees from East Carolina University, one in Educational Leadership and the second in School Counseling. This school year is my thirty-first year of service in Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. I love working with people, particularly students, teachers, and families. I grew up in Winston-Salem and love attending Wake Forest football and basketball games. Oh, and I enjoy telling riddles; some are better than others.
Last year, I learned what a great school community we have. We have excellent teachers, talented students, and a supportive community—the right ingredients for a highly successful school.
