DTS Dress Code
The Downtown School follows the WS/FCS dress code. It can be found here on page 10 of the Student-Parent Handbook.
The following dress code guidelines are taken directly from the WSFCS parent/student handbook. Please review carefully with your child prior to the start of school and realize that this includes but is not limited to the following:
Students are prohibited from wearing clothing that contains advertisements for tobacco, alcohol, and drugs, pictures or graphics of nudity, or words that are profane, lewd, vulgar, or indecent
Clothing exposing a student’s bare chest, bare back, or bare midriff may not be worn
All shirts or tops must have straps and/or sleeves. No spaghetti tops, or “tube tops” are allowed
No see through clothing is allowed
Shoes must be worn to school
Short shorts or skirts are not allowed. A good rule of thumb is that shorts and skirts should be mid thigh
Pants, slacks, jeans, or other attire that sag below the waist are not allowed
Hats, caps, bandanas, or garments which cover the face or conceals the student’s identity are prohibited
Undergarments may not be shown or worn as outer garments
Any symbols, styles, or attire frequently associated with gangs, intimidation, violence, or violent groups about which students at a particular school have been notified as described in AR5131.4 are prohibited
Teachers and principals are expected to use discretion and common sense in implementing this dress code, including making reasonable accommodations on the basis of students’ religious beliefs or medical conditions.
