Instructional Facilitator
Instructional Facilitator
Megan Bakewell Houston

I have had the privilege of being the Instructional Facilitator at Sedge Garden for 15 years! Over this time at Sedge Garden, I have enjoyed getting to know the families, staff and students who represent our school community. While there is no such thing as a "typical day" for an instructional facilitator, some of my favorite job responsibilities include: collaborating with teachers during weekly Professional Learning Team meetings, planning and implementing lessons within classrooms, working with our testing coordinator to facilitate district and state testing, analyzing data and planning future levels of support with our MTSS coordinator, providing daily interventions to students who need more intensive instruction, working with parents to problem solve next steps for their child's academic growth and meeting with various support staff to positively impact the school environment and instruction for all of our learners. Many staff and parents will joke, "Houston, We Have a Problem". To which my response is, "We can fix any problem!" If you have a question about what your child is working on in school or how to support your child at home, please reach out to me! I meet with parents to discuss grades, tutoring opportunities, grade level expectations, communication between school and home and ways I can assist their child while they are at school. I love checking in on your student and enjoy the partnership we can create to ensure your child is successful while at SGES! I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in third grade, and I continue to be thankful for how blessed I am to pursue this passion. When I am not working at Sedge Garden, you will find me enjoying time with my family. I am outnumbered by the boys in my life: my husband (Zack), our two sons (Zander and Maddox) and our beagle (Beau)!
