I have taught drama and music to k-12 students in a classroom setting for the past twenty-nine years, most recently for New Hanover County Schools. My spouse and I recently bought a house in Winston-Salem and I am thrilled to be a part of Speas Global Elementary School.
Vocal and instrumental music are essential parts of my drama/music curriculum. I infuse literature, movement, composition, history, and dramatics into my lessons to inspire students. My ultimate goal is to inspire, educate and motivate life-long learners through creativity, and a love of drama and music in all its forms.
I am a skilled vocalist, pianist and composer. I bring a wealth of experience as a performer, having traveled throughout the United States, Far East, and Europe. I have served as an administrator for arts-based programs for several years in San Francisco and New Hanover County. My career in music education began at the Cathedral School at St. John the Divine. Following my tenure there, I relocated to San Francisco and taught at The American School in Switzerland before settling in North Carolina, closer to family.
My dogs are named Vincenzo (the singing dog), Walter (the chocolate lab), and Becker (the happy hound). My cats are Doppel (who acts like a dog) and Airlie (a sweet, petite girl).
