Elementary Battle Of The Books (Ebob)

Elementary Battle of the Books is a Reading program that fourth and fifth-grade students may participate in during the school year. Teams from participating schools across the state read books from a selected list each year and compete against each other, answering specific detailed questions about the books. A committee from the North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA) puts together the title list each year.
Students who join EBOB read books from the year's selected list and become content "experts" on some of the titles. During the Summer and Fall, the primary goal is for students to read the books, taking note of specific details in the books, as well as learning the authors and titles of all the books on the list. During the 2nd quarter of school, a competition team is selected from those students participating. The goal of the team is not for every student on the team to read all the books on the list, but for all the books to be covered among the team. A good goal is for each student to read and become an "expert" on 4- 5 books. All students in fourth and fifth grade are welcome to participate.
Once the team is selected, we will meet regularly and practice for the district competition, which occurs in the 3rd quarter (usually between mid- February and mid-March). In 2024, Moore's team advanced to the Finals!
