Franchesca Gantt
Principal

Welcome to Konnoak Middle School, home of the Owls!  My name is Franchesca Gantt, and I am the proud principal of Konnoak Middle School! Konnoak Middle School is a school of innovation, creation and engagement. We as an Owl family are so excited about the new opportunities that abound for KMS. Middle school is what I do with over 20 years of experience in middle school education. This will be my third year serving our wonderful school community and I am excited about where we are going.

This year we are embarking upon a refresh and reset not seen in our community. We have a new name, new school colors, new mascot, a new staff and also a new building ready for us to move into starting the second semester in January 2025. Not only will all of that be new, but we also have a new schedule for the day and the week. We are valuing time in ways not seen before and this will give us the opportunity to lay the foundation for growth and scholar success.

We have the ability to change the lives of over 400 scholars each day of each school year and this is our year! We want you to join us on this mission by being involved parents, guardians or community members.

I am ready! We are ready!

Let's have a great year!

Shai Cullop
Assistant Principal

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself to you as one of the new assistant principals at Konnoak Middle!  As the assistant principal, I am committed to supporting our school community in achieving excellence in all aspects of education. It is a privilege to serve Konnoak Middle and I look forward to partnering with you to ensure success for our students.

I’d like to tell you a little about myself.. I started my career in higher education, working as a Coordinator of Service Programs for Emory & Henry College and teaching English for the Virginia Community College System. In 2013, I moved to North Carolina and began work at  Durham Public Schools. There I spent the next three and a half years working as a Sixth and Eighth grade teacher of both English Language Arts and Social Studies.  I then transitioned to Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools and worked for two years as an Eighth grade Social Studies Teacher. As a North Carolina Principal Fellow, I earned my Master’s Degree in School Administration through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021 and I was awarded the Assistant Principalship at Thomasville Middle School  where I have served the past three years. I have been fortunate to serve the Thomasville community, collaborating closely with teachers, staff, students, and parents to promote a culture of learning and achievement.

I am so excited to be coming to Konnoak Middle where we can work together to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive school climate where every student can thrive. Go Owls!
