JFK Battle of the Books
What is Battle of the Books?
It is an academic team that requires students to read from a list of books selected by school media coordinators and teachers from across the state.
The list has 15 books and students at JFK must commit to reading at least 3-4 off of the list in order to compete. Students compete as a team in a quiz-bowl atmosphere.
All questions come from the year's list of books. All questions are worded, "In what book does a character......." (Points are awarded for the correct book title (2 points) and an extra point for the author.) Only 6 students play together on a team. The entire team gets to confer on all answers for 20 seconds before revealing their answer.
Winners will advance to a regional competition.
The JFK high school BOB team will allow our virtual academy and in-person students to collaborate into one John F. Kennedy team. However, for the district competition, students will need to participate in-person. Students need to have 3-4 books off the following list read by mid-February. The competition is in the spring of 2025. More details to come!
