ROTC Programs
Founded 1916, ROTC stands for Reserve Officer Training Corps. ROTC is a college program that is offered at more than 1,000 colleges and universities across the United States. This program prepares young adults to become officers in the United States Military. In exchange for a paid college education and a guaranteed post-college career, cadets commit to serve in the military after graduation (Today's Military, 2015).
If you are interested in joining ROTC, you should apply to the ROTC program at the same time you apply to the college who host the program. For example, if you are applying to Appalachian State University and you want to join the ROTC program, you should apply to the ROTC program at the same time you apply for admissions to Appalachian State University. The ROTC application process is described on the ROTC website for each ROTC program at each college or university. ***Please note that all colleges and universities do not offer a ROTC program. Review the links below to see if your selected college or university offers a ROTC program.

Iron Eagles U.S. Army JROTC Program
At East Forsyth High School, we have the Iron Eagles U.S. Army JROTC program. JROTC stands for the Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. This program is offered to to high school that teachers students character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, and diversity. Through cooperative efforts between the Army and that participating high schools, the goal is to produce successful students and citizens, while fostering a more constructive and disciplined learning environment. The JROTC curriculum consists of education in citizenship, leadership, social and communication skills, physical fitness and wellness, and geography, and civics. At East Forsyth, the JROTC program is lead by Master Sergeant Hissim and Lieutenant Colonel McCormick.

ASVAB
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) was created by the Department of Defense to help students across the United States learn more about career exploration and training. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is a comprehensive career exploration and planning program that includes a multiple aptitude test battery, an interest inventory, and various career planning tools that encourage students to explore the world of work.
At East Forsyth High School, the ASVAB is offered to 10th - 12th grade students on Friday, December 4th.
