Welcome to the Chorus/Creative Music Website

Welcome to the Chorus Website. I am so excited about the upcoming year in Chorus. The 2009-2010 school year promises to be an exciting year as we learn an ecletic mix of music in Chorus to perform for our audiences.

If you are new to Thomas Jefferson Middle School (TJMS), then welcome to our family. Please browse this website to see what is happening in Chorus. The Chorus Handbook and Chorus Syllabus are located under "Document Manager" The Chorus Handbook is both educational and procedural. Everything you need to know about Chorus and educational tips on how to keep your voice healthy are included in this handbook. You and your child are encouraged to read this handbook together. Students and parents should sign the "Information/Signature Page (last page)" of the handbook. This page is your chorus contract for the year. Students are to return this page to Mrs. Walters the first week of school. Please remember write your e-mail legibly as I set-up group e-mails according to grade level. Should you have questions after viewing the website or reading the Chorus handbook or Chorus syllabus on-line, please feel free to e-mail me, lwalters@wsfcs.k12.nc.us.

Please make sure to mark your calendars with the 2009-2010 Chorus performance dates. Concerts are mandatory (refer to the Chorus Handbook) and are performed in either the TJMS Auditorium or Reynolds Auditorium (RJ Reynolds High School). Directions to this performance venue are listed under Concert and ContestAttire.

Students will be strongly encouraged to bring water to class this year. Students need water for their vocal cords and their brain to function properly. Also, I would like to extend a personal invitation to each of you to visit the Chorus classes any day and at any time. As a parent, I understand the importance of knowing what is happening in the classroom. You will be welcomed and we may even put you to work!

Again, welcome to all who visit this website. Please check it often for updates and changes as this website is a work in progress. I look forward to meeting new faces and seeing familiar faces in August!

Musically,

Leigh Walters
