Officer Smith
 
Officer J. N. Smith has been a member of the Kernersville Police Department since 2005 and holds the rank of Master Police Officer. Prior to being selected for the School Resource Officer Division in April of 2008, she spent 3 years working with the Patrol Division. She is a member of the Kernersville Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team and a member of the Forsyth County Crisis Intervention Team. Officer Smith is also a nationally certified Gang Resistance Education And Training (G.R.E.A.T.) Instructor. She is involved with It's My Call drug prevention program and Kernersville Cares for Kids.
 
In August 2010, Officer Smith became the first Kernersville Police Dept. officer to complete the North Carolina Justice Academy's School Resource Officer Certificate program. This program is a combination of Juvenile Law, Advanced SRO, Domestic Violence courses, and many other courses related to juveniles for a total of 400 hours.
